The Comprehensive Learner Record (CLR) helps students articulate the skills they are gaining in courses and activities at UGA that are foundational to their academic and professional success. These skills – called Institutional Competencies – are highly valued by employers, as well as graduate and professional programs, around the country.
Brady — UGA Student
According to the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE), 70% of employers report engaging in skills-based hiring. When asked what they look for in job candidates, employers across multiple industries identified many of the skills already included in UGA’s Institutional Competencies – including communication, critical thinking, leadership, and more. These same employers overwhelmingly rated UGA students and alums as “Excellent” and “Above Average” in each of these skill areas.
Employers are seeking graduates with the skills at which UGA students already excel through their courses and activities. The CLR is an important tool for students to show off these achievements and communicate what they have learned.
