The Comprehensive Learner Record (CLR) is a university-wide initiative that helps students document and communicate the professional skills they develop at UGA. Complementing the academic transcript, the CLR highlights UGA’s six Institutional Competencies or ICs – Analytical Thinking, Critical Thinking, Communication, Creativity & Innovation, Leadership & Collaboration, and Social Awareness & Responsibility. Students acquire these ICs by taking courses and participating in activities, including research, leadership roles, service, and experiential learning.

This toolkit provides approved messaging, branding guidance, and downloadable resources to help campus communicators promote the CLR consistently across the university.

Communications Goals

Communications about the CLR should:
  • Build awareness among students, faculty, staff, and campus partners.
  • Help students understand how the CLR supports career readiness, graduate education, and lifelong learning.
  • Encourage faculty to map courses and activities to Institutional Competencies.
  • Promote approved courses and activities that contribute to the CLR.
  • Reinforce the value of UGA’s Institutional Competencies as a hallmark of the student experience.
